Molly Furman is a sophomore Wardlaw Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill where she is an assured admission student into the Kenan-Flagler Business School. She started her own small business of baking, decorating, and selling cakes in 2020 during the height of the pandemic while she was stuck at home during high school. Her passion for baking and interest in the field of business resulted in the creation of MollyCakes. Before the beginning of MollyCakes, her Instagram was used as a food account where she posted meals that she had cooked at home for her family.
Her general passion for food is what initially sparked her interest in the art of cake making. Molly has dedicated many hours in the kitchen to learning more about creative flavors and detailed techniques. After an infinite amount of trial and error, she has finally come up with multiple styles of cake to match her brand. When she is not studying, networking, or working on running her small business, Molly enjoys going to yoga classes and spending time with her friends and family. Although she is unsure about the expansion of MollyCakes, or its duration, her passion for baking will always be an important part of her life.
